“The course helps teachers put their knowledge into perspective. The trainers have a very rich experience and their knowledge exceeds the content of the book, which has further built our capacity.”
“The course gives a comprehensive idea of the development and needs of each age group, thus helping with the choice of suitable themes, activities and materials. It emphasizes the importance of "hands-on" activities and the role of the teacher in providing "learning through play" experiences in the classroom. The course helped me determine my specific goals and the objectives I would like to reach with my students.” – Reem Abu-Ragheb, kindergarten teacher
IELC builds lifelong learners. We help children view themselves as successful learners who are not afraid to make choices or learn from their mistakes, who welcome opportunities to learn, and who derive joy from learning.
At Iman’s Early Learning Institute, we believe that early childhood education provides a lifelong benefit to children and families by enhancing children’s learning during a critical period in their development. We also know that these benefits can only be achieved if early childhood programs are delivered by well-trained, high-quality educators. We train Jordanian and other Middle Eastern early childhood teachers to follow effective, proven strategies for enhancing children’s development in a safe and supportive environment. Our training is based on the most current knowledge of child development and classroom teaching, and our trainers have studied with internationally recognized early childhood professionals. Participants in our trainings learn:
• How to establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment.
• How to advance children’s physical and intellectual competence.
• To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance.
• To establish positive and productive relationships with families.
• To ensure a well-run, purposeful program responsive to participant needs.
• To maintain a commitment to professionalism.
• To observe and record children’s behavior.
• To abide by the principles of child growth and development.
This knowledge is gained through a program characterized by a practical approach, a belief that individuals learn best when given the opportunity to put their learning into practice. Other hallmarks of our program include:
• A solid foundation in pedagogy.
• Linking content and teaching to learning.
• Teaching practical ways to guide children in clear concise manner.
• An emphasis on the role of teachers as facilitators.
• A focus on developmentally appropriate practice.
We use the #1 basic textbook for preparing people for entry-level teaching in early childhood, “Working with Young Children” by Judy Herr. All reading materials and assessments are presented online.
